surfer feedback 23

Off the tail it’s fast, responsive, projects out of turns, basically rides like a dream.

Proctors,

Sad day, never thought I’d let the SR-71 go. But, I’d never let it go without a sick replacement.

Blackbird has been awesome.

Volume is dialed in, paddles great, gets in early, good speed on entry, feels stable and predictable under my feet, confidence inspiring.

Not sure if it’s the increased volume or the single concave, or the blackbird sweetness, it seems to respond to front foot input a little more than the SR-71 (like that first big pump to get down the face or down the line). Don’t be mistaken, back foot is where this board lives.

Off the tail it’s fast, responsive, projects out of turns, basically rides like a dream.

So, SR-71 vs. Blackbird?

Hard to say, and my theory is that it may have as much to do with volume, especially in the rails, as anything else. SR-71 feels more “precise” and just a bit more nimble, and rides right in the most critical part of the pocket a little better. But, the downside (again, probably volume, or my lack of fitness) for me is only that I can’t paddle as fast or as long, or get in quite as early.

For perfect conditions, the absolute dream day, I’d take the SR-71. But since those are few and far between, especially for the working man, (and finances) I couldn’t keep both. With that glowing report of the SR-71, I’ve never surfed the Blackbird and wished I was on the SR-71. It doesn’t hold me back. For me (again, the volume difference is probably the biggest difference) the SR-71 fit too small a niche, that is almost completely covered by the Blackbird.

So, in summary, (you’re still readying!?)

love the Blackbird, thanks for the recommendation and execution of another sweet board.

Between the Monsta and the Blackbird I’m set for most conditions.

Maybe just need a California step up board for those few big big swells.

So now the show down would be my blackbird vs a new SR-71 with a little more volume….

Thanks for the personal service, thanks for the stoke, and for the boards to keep driving my surfing forward.

Thanks again,

Jacob

I can honestly say that at 42 yrs of age I’ve been surfing top of my game…

Hi Charissa – I’ve been quite remiss in getting this email out…please tell Todd that

I’ve been ridiculously pleased with my Monsta shape.

At 195 lbs. / 6’, I was a little dubious about a 5’10””, but man was I wrong.

The board is perfectly fitted for my size and surfing ability…paddles great, picks off waves early, and SLAMS down power carves like nobody’s business.

I can honestly say that at 42 yrs of age I’ve been surfing top of my game…

blowing out tails, stomping big face carves, and executing better in-the-pocket surfing.

Recent trips to PR, Nicaragua,

and surfing gutless wind chop locally in South Florida,

perfectly displays the Monsta’s versatility.

This board has been my main go to for anything over waist and up to double overhead (the board absolutely shined in a sketchy 8’ plus session at Middles). I’m literally a walking/surfing billboard for Proctor, as recent local sessions in waist/chest high slop have been eye opening…with post surf questions from strangers asking what I’m riding. I unabashedly gush over your shapes and tell them to go buy one!!

I also want to thank you for the customer service.

I have a good friend and shaper, Briand A. Tudor (BAT) in Melbourne, FL who has been my trusted shaper for years. I’ve always appreciated his approachability to custom designs and willingness to dial me into the best equipment. Getting a custom shape on the West coast presents potential pitfalls, and quite frankly was a major concern initially. However, after talking with you and Todd I knew I was in good hands.

And indeed, the end result has been outstanding. Now I just need a few more in my quiver :)

All the best,

Matt Herren

I am 100% sure that I have the best skateboard I have ever owned

Hi Todd and Charissa,

I swear that I am not a serial testimonial guy but I have to tell you how much I LOVE MY MONSTA SKATE! I have only given a testimonial/review for one other service/business other than yours.

Obviously I love my surfboards and I feel that I have the best quiver in my 25 or so years of surfing.

Now I am 100% sure that I have

the best skateboard I have ever owned.

I can’t believe I am saying that at 39 years of age. I ride it all the time either for a few quick pumps around my street, long distance sidewalk sessions and some downhill action. The board is a full work out and feels just like your on the water or even snowboarding in the powder, insane. I haven’t really surfed due to a sprained ankle so I haven’t seen the benefits in my surfing yet.

I got my friend in Carlsbad so pumped just by telling him about it an he saw your video and then he just ordered one from you. He has been showing the video to his friends down there and everyone is psyched.

I went to the Ripcurl shop and a shop guy and I tested my skate vs. the T. Knox demo in the lot and we both agreed that the Monsta pumped faster and had a more carvy feel which made it more fun!!!

The wheel base makes all the difference.

Your surfboards in the shop look really good.

We did a bunch of family pics on the beach at Mandalay and even did some skate pics. Attached is one with my Monsta, it goes every where and I am always promoting it (and the surfboards as well).

Super Stoked! I wish you both much success and happiness as well as have a very Happy Holiday season!

The Monsta Carver board rides insane

Just an FYI, skate came today and mom and kids were there to get it. Great call sending it out on Fri so we were home today!

The kids are already fighting over it. Here is a pic of my daughter Kiera on it.

The board rides insane. I tried a carver at your shop a while ago but it didn’t feel anywhere as good as the Monsta.

Another great Proctor Product!

Thanks again,
Paul

Wow! It is the closest thing to surfing.

Charissa,

Yes, I did receive it.

Wow! It is the closest thing to surfing.

It’s crazy how you need to move to make the board go, I mimic the same movements I use in the water.

Pretty good exercise too.

Thanks again for all of your help. :)

thanks for the killer Monsta quiver

I just wanted to write and say thanks for the killer Monsta quiver.

I have been surfing daily since I returned to San Diego

and just came home from a week long North Shore trip

where I paddled out the Monsta Step-up into 6 – 8 foot Hale’iwa.

Super fun.

Hope all is well and I will talk to you soon.

I have never been given the attention that you and Todd gave when ordering a board

Charissa and Todd,

I just wanted to drop you a note regarding your ordering process.

In this industry I have never been given

the attention that you and Todd gave

when ordering a board.

I have not seen or even heard of the efficiency in communication, attention to detail and common courtesy that you folks have provided.

I’m sure this will be the first of many boards for me.

Todd & Charissa-

I’ve been able to take out the board quite a few times and…

My Monsta rips! So much fun blowin past longboarders here in Oceanside.

I couldn’t ask for a

well balanced board!

This board is helping me take my surfing to the next level!
